Raul Marulanda learned the process of growing coffee early on due to growing up on a coffee farm. Both of his parents have been coffee growers all their life. Nowadays, he lives together on his farm Las Flores with his wife, two daughters and his brother-in-law. They all share the work on the farm and during harvest they contract additional pickers to help out. His dream is to keep improving the quality of his coffee by improving processes, and eventually winning a quality contest!
Only ripe cherries are picked at Las Flores and they are very cautious during all steps, de-pulping at the end of the picking day, fermenting, washing and he uses the sun for drying. This is the second micro lot we purchased through Traboccas Virtual Buyers Trip early 2021. We loved how sugary his coffee was on the cupping table and purchased it direct over 2x "fair trade" rate.
